What this site collects on its own

Almost nothing. This site sets no cookies, runs no analytics and loads no third-party scripts or fonts. The index page remembers whether you last chose the grid or the list view, in your own browser's local storage; that setting never leaves your device. Our web server keeps ordinary access logs (the address your request came from, the page requested, the time, and your browser's identification string) for fourteen days, for security and to keep the site running, and we do not use them to identify you.

What we collect when you write to us

The inquiry form on this site opens a message in your own email program; nothing is sent to us until you send it. When you email us we receive what you send: your name, your email address, and whatever you write, and any telephone number or address you choose to include. We use it only to answer you and, if you buy something, to complete the sale.

What we collect when you buy

To sell you a work we need your name, a billing address, a delivery address, an email address and, for delivery, a telephone number. Payment by card is handled by our payment processor, and we never see or store your full card details. Payment by bank transfer shows us the account name and the amount received.

Who we share it with

Only those needed to complete a sale: the carrier delivering a work, the insurer covering it in transit, the framer if you have asked for framing, our payment processor and our accountant. Each receives only what it needs. We do not sell, rent or trade your details, and we do not send marketing.

How long we keep it

Correspondence that does not lead to a sale is deleted within twelve months. Records of a sale are kept for seven years, because tax law requires it. You may ask us to delete anything we are not legally obliged to keep.

Your rights

Wherever you live, you may ask us what we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it, by writing to info@artifexfineart.com. We answer within thirty days. If you are a California resident you have these rights under the California Consumer Privacy Act; if you are in the European Union or the United Kingdom you have them under the GDPR and may also complain to your local supervisory authority. We do not sell personal information and we do not discriminate against anyone for exercising these rights.

Changes

If this policy changes, the new version appears here with a new effective date. We do not change how we use anything already collected without telling you.
