Packing

Hanging scrolls are rolled around their roller in acid-free tissue and placed in a rigid tube inside an outer case. Framed works travel with the glazing taped, corners protected, wrapped and boxed in a double-wall carton with foam at the edges. The folding screen travels closed, wrapped and blocked inside a wooden crate made to its size. Everything is packed by us, and we keep photographs of each work in its packing.

Shipping and insurance

We ship from the United States by insured courier, door to door, with a signature on delivery. Within the United States most works arrive within a week of payment; elsewhere allow one to three weeks depending on customs. Every shipment is insured for its full price from our door to yours. We quote shipping and insurance at cost, in writing, before you pay, and we do not add a handling charge.

Duties and taxes

Sales tax is charged where the law requires it and shown on the invoice. For delivery outside the United States, import duty and local taxes are the buyer's responsibility and are collected by the carrier or the customs authority on arrival. We declare every shipment at its full invoice value with an accurate description; we do not undervalue or mark works as gifts.

On delivery

Please inspect the outer packing before signing, and note any damage with the driver. Unpack within a few days, keep the packing until you are sure, and send us a photograph if anything is not right. If a work has been damaged in transit we deal with the insurer; you deal only with us.

Returns

Anything bought unseen may be returned within fourteen days of delivery, for any reason. Write to us within that time; we arrange collection in the original packing and refund you within seven days of the work reaching us. If the work was not as described, we refund in full including the outbound shipping. If it simply did not suit, we refund the price and you bear the shipping both ways. Works that have been re-mounted, framed or altered to your instruction cannot be returned, and we tell you so before any such work begins.

Where distance allows, works may be viewed and collected by appointment. Write to us to arrange a time.
