Autumn Gorge with a Pavilion

Layered peaks in mineral blue and green, small red-roofed buildings tucked into the cliffs, and a bridge with figures crossing beneath a dark pine and a bare tree. A fine-brush picture with a great deal in it.
Blue-and-green landscape is the slow kind of painting. The rock is outlined first, then the mineral colors are built up in several thin layers until they are opaque, and the trees are added last, each leaf a separate touch. The buildings, the bridge and the tiny figures on it are drawn with a brush of a few hairs.
The pale blue-green mat and the dark frame with its carved brackets make this one of the most finished-looking objects on the site, and it goes straight onto a wall. It suits a room where people sit and look for a while: a dining room, a library.
Offered as a decorative painting, made by hand. The inscription and seals are recorded as they appear and are not offered as a record of who painted it.
